After his arrival in Agartala, Tripura, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to bolster Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign efforts in Manipur. Reports indicate that Shah will first address a public rally in Tripura before heading to Manipur, where he is scheduled to meet with Chief Minister N Biren Singh, BJP leaders, and attend meetings in Imphal. His focus will be on supporting Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh, BJP’s candidate from the Inner Manipur constituency, which has witnessed heightened ethnic tensions since May last year. With over 200 casualties and thousands displaced, Manipur remains a critical battleground for the upcoming elections. Recent violence on April 13 underscores the volatile situation, when two men were killed at the boundary of Kangpokpi-Imphal East districts.
